Director Zhao Wei’s new movie, Mei You Bie de Ai, began to face criticism in late April after some netizens reacted negatively to the unveiling of the main cast members, including Leon Dai and Japanese-American actress Mizuhara Kiko.

趙薇的新電影《沒有別的愛》從四月份下旬開始遭到批評，當(dāng)時一些網(wǎng)民對這部電影主要演員的身份反應(yīng)消極，其中就包括戴立忍和日裔美國演員水原希子。

Some Net users claimed that Dai had participated in activities advocating "Taiwan independence," while others alleged that Kiko had liked a photo that disgraced China on Instagram, sparking an uproar at the time.

據(jù)一些網(wǎng)民聲稱，戴立忍曾經(jīng)參加過鼓吹“臺獨(dú)”的活動，而其他人則聲稱水原希子曾經(jīng)給Instagram上一張侮辱中國的照片點(diǎn)贊，這些消息一經(jīng)傳出，立刻引起軒然大波。

The public outcry grew more severe in late June when Zhao posted a selfie with Dai and another actress in a post celebrating the conclusion of filming.

The opposition also caught the attention of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China (CYLC), which elaborated the reasons why Dai and the new movie faced a boycott in a July 6 Weibo post, which has been reposted 140,000 times.

According to the CYLC, previous reports have spotted a celebrity resembling Dai participating in a Taiwan protest against a Chinese service trade pact.

The organization also claimed that the Taiwan actor allegedly supported remarks that said comfort women served willingly during World War II.

共青團(tuán)還指出，據(jù)說戴立忍曾支持過“二戰(zhàn)慰安婦是自愿”的言論。

"It is unexpected to see rumors about one of our cast, Leon Dai. We have communicated with Dai during and after such rumors [were being spread], and he clearly expressed that he is no supporter of ’Taiwan independence,’" Zhao wrote on her Sina Weibo account on Monday, adding that Dai has participated in many films from the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan, and he has cooperated with the mainland for years.

The post also reiterated Zhao and her film crew’s "firm opposition" to "any separatist thought" and stressed that "be it the mainland or Taiwan, we all share the same name as Chinese."

In response, Dai wrote on his Sina Weibo on June 30 that he has never joined any political party nor interacted with any political groups. "I will never accept the accusation of ’Taiwan independence,’ which has come out of nowhere," he asserted.

戴立忍也做出了回應(yīng)，他于6月30日在其新浪微博上登出了一篇博文，表示說自己從未參加過任何政治黨派，也從未和任何政治團(tuán)體進(jìn)行過交流互動。戴立忍十分肯定地說：“我永遠(yuǎn)不會接受‘臺獨(dú)’的指控，這種指控是毫無根據(jù)的?！?span id="jxfbjvrd" class="style52">

The movie crew wrote on its official Weibo that it has resorted to legal means to handle the rumor and slander against Zhao, and it will fully support Dai’s actions to maintain his reputation.

趙薇電影劇組在其新浪官微上做出了聲明，表示將訴諸法律手段，來處理針對戴立忍的謠言和誹謗，并將全力支持戴立忍的行動，以維護(hù)他的聲譽(yù)。
